SHOE AND STORY DRIVE--CALL FOR DONATIONS
Sara Ranchouse Publishing announces a new project to benefit Share Your Soles, a not-for-profit
organization based in Alsip, IL, whose mission is to collect and distribute shoes to people in need all
over the world. www.shareyoursoles.org
In conjunction with organizing a shoe drive, Sara Ranchouse is collecting stories and images of shoes
for a publication to benefit Share Your Soles.
HOW TO DONATE SHOES AND/OR STORIES:
SHOES:
Share Your Soles accepts new and gently used men's, women's, and children's shoes. All types of shoes
are accepted--fashion shoes and others not appropriate for regular wear can be sold to raise money, so
clean out your closets and feel better about those fashion mistakes! Share Your Soles is also in need of
shoelaces, shoe polish, and detergent and bleach to launder shoes. You may donate money to defray the
cost of cleaning, sorting and shipping the shoes at: www.shareyoursoles.org

STORIES:
The publication is inspired by a 1963 performance score by the artist Alison Knowles:
Shoes of Your Choice (March, 1963)
A member of the audience is invited to come forward to a microphone if one is available and describe a
pair of shoes, the ones he is wearing or another pair. He is encouraged to tell where he got them, the size,
color, why he likes them, etc.
Please submit short writing (400 words maximum recommended, or formatted to use a 5" x 8" page) to
info@sararanchouse.com. If you have something longer, an unusual format, or are working visually with
text, please contact us to discuss. We are keen to include alternative and experimental forms!
Submissions of writing and images must be received by June 1, 2010. Notification of acceptance will be
given by July 1, 2010. Submissions may be edited for the publication with permission of the author.
Authors will retain individual copyright to their work, although the edited collection and publication
concept will bear the copyright of Sara Ranchouse Publishing.
