The Wonderful (Lost) Achievements was a retrospective of
fictional exhibits that were lost to the World's Columbian
Exposition of 1893 either by accidents of fate or because of
the determined proprieties of the fair's organizers. While some
of the exhibits were introduced as discoveries found during
excavations for subsequent building projects, others were
reconstructed using documents from the Chicago Historical
Society archives as both reference and provocation.
Printed ephemera, books, plaster casts and found objects
were constructed to recount the exhibits and to speculate upon
their exclusion from the World's Fair.
